Neighbourhood rescue · real time

When your pet goes missing, the whole neighbourhood sets out to find it

Real-time shared map, voice walkie-talkie and verified sightings. Your family and neighbours within 5 km coordinated from their phones so it takes you minutes, not hours, to find it.

Street animals rescued and waiting for help

Three steps. No cost. Zero friction.

Step 1

Trigger the S.O.S

When you notice it's gone, you open its profile in Mizuu and tap "S.O.S". Its digital passport is marked as lost and appears on the public board of missing pets.

Step 2

Set out to the rescue

You tap "Set out to the rescue" and a real-time session opens. Your family gets an automatic push and so do neighbours within 5 km. Anyone can join from their phone with a single tap.

Step 3

Coordinate the search

You see all rescuers on the map with their trails. You talk over the voice walkie-talkie. You mark sightings with a photo. When you find it, you close the session and everything is wiped from the server.

A pocket-sized coordination room

Everything a professional search team would use — map, radio communication, trail markers — packed into a tab on your phone.

Real-time shared map

Each rescuer appears with their avatar. Family in blue, volunteers in orange. Each one leaves a striped trail — wherever there's no colour, no one has swept yet. Useful for "tightening the net" without overlapping.

Voice walkie-talkie

Hold down the red button to record (max 30 s). Release to send. The notes you receive play automatically with a police-style ringtone and vibration. If several arrive, they queue up without overlapping.

"I saw it here" — with a photo

When you think you've spotted it, you tap the yellow button on the map. It captures your GPS, lets you add a note ("it was heading north along Main Street") and optionally a photo for verification.

False alarm — rule out areas

If you went to check and it was another dog, mark "False alarm" instead of saying nothing. It appears in grey on the map so the team knows that spot is already ruled out and doesn't go twice.

Live stopwatch

At the top you see the exact time since you triggered the SOS, updated second by second. Every minute counts and that reminds the team psychologically.

Sound and haptic alerts

A police-radio-style walkie ringtone every time an audio arrives. A short synchronised vibration so you know something new has come in even if your screen is locked.

Before it happens

The best rescue is the one you don't need

Mizuu puts three layers of identification in place before the S.O.S. When someone finds your pet, it doesn't depend on their good memory or a hand-written phone number: the way back to you is already built.

NFC collar

The bridge between whoever finds it and you

Whoever finds your pet just has to bring their phone close to the collar. Without installing anything, its digital passport opens and you get an instant alert with the area it was scanned from. Often you don't even need to start a rescue: it turns up first.

Digital passport

Its identity, portable and always at hand

Photo, name, markings, allergies and your contact in a public profile controlled by you. Anyone can look it up at mizuu.pet/pasaporte/RR-123456 even if the collar has fallen off. It's the universal ID that travels with the animal between clinics and families.

Microchip + clinic

The safety net that already exists

Every veterinary clinic reads the microchip. If whoever finds it takes it to a vet, its universal Mizuu clinical history links chip and passport, so the professional locates you in seconds. Three routes home, not just one.

What if you're the one who finds it?

You found a lost animal: what to do

No need to call anyone or guess whose it is. The digital passport guides you in three steps.

  1. 01

Bring your phone close to the NFC collar

If it has a Mizuu collar, just bring your phone near: its digital passport opens without installing anything and its family gets an instant alert with the area.

  2. 02

    Or open its digital passport

Without a collar, go to mizuu.pet/pasaporte/RR-123456 from the tag or from the missing pets board. You'll see a photo, markings and how to contact the family they've authorised.

  3. 03

Or take it to a veterinary clinic

Any vet reads the microchip and, with the health record linked, locates the owner in seconds. Three paths, all lead home.

You're not alone

Behind every map there's a whole network

Neighbourhood rescue isn't an isolated feature: it's one more piece of the Mizuu ecosystem. Shelters, foster homes, volunteers and your own family are already connected before you press S.O.S.

Verified shelters

Any animal in their CRM can trigger an S.O.S just like a private owner. Their team and nearby volunteers coordinate on the same map. If it needs somewhere to stay once recovered, they already have the structure to take it in.

Foster homes

An animal recovered from the street can rarely return on its own. The network's foster homes offer a temporary home while the shelter provides food, vet care and everything else. They free up a spot in the shelter for the next one.

Formal volunteering

Neighbourhood rescue is spontaneous; volunteering is organised. Shelters publish positions (transport, walking, vet assistant, events and more, 8 types in all) with encrypted chat, so helping doesn't depend on improvising.

Family and shared care

Invite your partner, your kids or whoever cares for the animal with a code. They all get the S.O.S alert at once and join the rescue without asking permission. The responsibility is shared, the response multiplies.

The rescuer's commitment

This is a real rescue.

A missing pet means a distressed family. That's why when you join you agree to:

  • Honest sightings. If you're not sure, mark “False alarm” or don't mark anything — a false positive diverts the team.
  • No jokes or tests. The walkie is not a social chat. If you use it as one, you lose your place.
  • Your location is visible while you're in the session. Only to the family and the rest of the team, never to the public.
  • Clean close. If the owner marks “Found”, the rescue ends and the data is wiped.

Accounts with repeated false positives or misuse are banned and reported. The integrity of the system is what makes it work.

Privacy

Built to help, not to store

Ephemeral data

Audio, photos, GPS trails and chat exist only during the active session. When you close it, everything is wiped from the server within seconds.

GPS only inside

Your location is broadcast every 10 seconds only while the tab is open. When you leave, broadcasting stops.

Visible to the team

Your avatar and trail are seen by the other active rescuers. No one else. It doesn't appear on social media or on the public board.

No phone or email

To coordinate you use the rescue walkie. Your number and email aren't shared with strangers.

What people ask

Who pays for the service?

It's free. Mizuu covers the costs — it's part of their responsible adoption model. A portion of their profits goes to partner shelters.

Does it work if my phone isn't charged?

No. The rescue requires active GPS — bring a power bank if you're going out to search. The session stays active for everyone else even if your phone dies.

What if the pet isn't mine but I find it?

Scan the Mizuu collar if they are wearing one (it takes you to the digital passport with owner details) or go to mizuu.pet/pasaporte/RR-123456. You can also take them to a veterinary clinic — all of them can read the microchip.

Can I start the rescue as a neighbour without the owner's permission?

Yes, if the pet is on /animales/perdidos and you're within ≤ 5 km, you can start the session. The owner gets an automatic push right away.

Can shelters trigger rescues?

Yes. Any of their animals in their CRM can have an S.O.S and rescue just like private owners. Their team + nearby volunteers coordinate the same way.

What happens when the rescue is closed?

The owner marks "Found" → it disables the public alert. Or "We'll keep searching" → it keeps the alert but closes the active session. In both cases the ephemeral data (audio, photos, trails) is wiped from the server.

How Mizuu works

Everything connected, nothing left loose

Neighbourhood rescue is just one piece. Shelters, fostering, passport, services and a shop with impact form a single circle: each part protects the next.

And the circle closes: when you buy from the shop, 15% of net profit goes back to shelters. Free software for shelters, funded with purpose.

When losing it stops being a lonely nightmare

If your pet has Mizuu, its whole neighbourhood is ready to mobilise with you in minutes.
