Care in detail
🍽️ Nutrition
Quality food for active small breeds, with the portion adjusted to its size and measured treats to prevent excess weight, which aggravates any respiratory problem.
✂️ Grooming
Wiry coat maintained by hand-stripping every 2-3 months and weekly brushing. Hand-stripping preserves the texture; scissoring softens and dulls the coat.
🎓 Training
Intelligent, sociable and somewhat more manageable than other terriers; it responds well to positive reinforcement. It is advisable to moderate barking and reinforce recall because of its hunting instinct.
🏃 Exercise
High for its size: about 60 minutes daily of walking, play and scent work. It enjoys tracking activities, avoiding overexertion in the heat.
Breed-specific health
Conditions common to the breed according to the FCI group. Life expectancy 12-15 years with proper care. Annual vet check-up + blood work from 5 years of age.
🩺 Health predispositions of this breed
Conditions this breed is more predisposed to. Knowing about them helps with prevention and early detection. A predisposition does not mean the animal will develop them.
